The selection was rigorous and the best wines were selected to be further aged in second year barriques for four months.
This has given the wine a powerful perfumed nose and an elegant integrated tannic structure.

The nose offers exotic bazaar spices integrating with a underlying heady perfume of prunes and violets.
Medium to full bodied with well judged alcohol leads to a satisfying palette of wood spice and smooth tannins, lucisious hints of dark berries and chocolate graduating to a hint of schist from which the wine was born, with glycerine evident both within the glass and on the long satisfying finish.
Underlying acidity both refreshes and cleanses ones palette making this a memorable experience.
The finish is long fading to dried red fruits and is expressive and true to the wines douro birth place.
